David McSavage is one of Ireland’s most popular comedians and street entertainers. His cutting commentary is fearless and unflinching, and his performances are controversial, covering all aspects of life—though he is particularly devoted to the dogged pursuit of bigotry, politics, and religion.
Expect to hear from The Barman (Mick the Bull), Father Finnegan, former President Mary Robinson and Pat…Kenny, and other characters that have graced our screens in the groundbreaking series The Savage Eye.
A regular guest on TV and radio shows in Ireland for many years, McSavage has also appeared at all the major comedy festivals including the Edinburgh Festival and internationally in Australia, Germany and Scandinavia. He wrote and starred in The Savage Eye for RTÉ in 2009 and 2010. The third series is currently running on RTÉ 2.
He is well known for his street shows in Dublin’s Temple Bar. Especially to the Gardai.
‘The most divisive comedian in the country’ Evening Herald
“The Savage Eye is the best TV comedy program ever made in Ireland…brilliantly and wickedly funny…” Irish Independent
