The 2011 Éigse Carlow Arts Festival is set to open with a burst of colour. The Lantern Procession and Water Illumination Spectacle will light up the streets of Carlow and the banks of the Barrow at the festival opening ceremony on Friday June 10th. Crowds are asked to congregate at the doors of VISUAL /GB Shaw Theatre at 9.30pm to collect lanterns and musical instruments and then process towards the River Barrow where the Illumination Spectacle will take place. Everyone is welcome to join the procession.
Lantern workshops will be held on Sun. 23rd April at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre, 12 – 4pm but if you haven’t attended the workshop, not to worry, bring your homemade best attempt!
When the procession reaches the Barrow it will line both sides of the river and then the magic will begin! This event will be a real family treat that your children will remember for the rest of their lives.
